…. they were unschooled, ordinary men …. they had been with Jesus …. the crippled man healed standing with them – Acts 4:13,14

Don’t worry, … don’t be afraid, … God is with us

In times of change and uncertainty,
or walking down an unfamiliar road,
or trying something new,
… its encouraging to know that God is faithful & unchanging … He is our loving Father, … He is with us.

One thing remains, Your love never fails,
never gives up, never runs out on me,
Your love

Proverbs 12:25 (ERV)
Worry takes away your joy,
but a kind word makes you happy.

May the following verses inspire, encourage and strengthen us as we trust Him.

Jeremiah 15:16 (NCV)
Your words came to me,
and I listened carefully to them.

Your words made me very happy,
because I am called by your name,
Lord God All-Powerful.

(The following verses are from the Easy-to-Read Version (ERV), by Bible League International, a ministry that gets the Bible into the hands people around the world.
Its refreshing sometimes to read a simple English translation of the Bible. )

Old Testament

Nehemiah 4:14 (NIV)
… “Don’t be afraid of them.
Remember the Lord,
who is great and awesome, …

Deuteronomy 31:8 (ERV)
The Lord will lead you.
He himself is with you.

He will not fail you
or leave you.

Don’t worry.
Don’t be afraid!”

2 Chronicles 20:15-17 (ERV)
15 Jahaziel said, “Listen to me King Jehoshaphat and everyone living in Judah and Jerusalem!
The Lord says this to you:

‘Don’t be afraid or worry about this large army,
because the battle is not your battle.
It is God’s battle!

17 You will not have to fight this battle.
Just stand there and watch the Lord save you. Judah and Jerusalem,

don’t be afraid.  Don’t worry,
because the Lord is with you.
So go out to stand against those people tomorrow.’”

2 Chronicles 32:6.7 (ERV)
Hezekiah chose officers of war to be in charge of the people. He met with these officers at the open place near the city gate. He talked to the officers and encouraged them.
He said, “Be strong and brave.
Don’t be afraid or worry about the king of Assyria or the large army with him.

There is a greater power with us
than the king of Assyria has with him!

Isaiah 41:10, 13, 14 (ERV)
Don’t worry — I am with you.
Don’t be afraid — I am your God.

I will make you strong
and help you.

I will support you with my right hand
that brings victory.

13 I am the Lord your God,
    who holds your right hand.

And I tell you, ‘Don’t be afraid!
    I will help you.’

14 People of Israel, descendants of Jacob,
you may be weak and worthless,

    but

do not be afraid.
    I myself will help you.”

This is what the Lord himself says.

“I am the Holy One of Israel,
    the one who saves you.

The Lord’s encouragement to His people as they built the second temple in the midst of various challenges,

Haggai 2:4, 5 (ERV)
But the Lord says, “Zerubbabel,
don’t be discouraged!”

And the Lord says, “Joshua son of Jehozadak, you are the high priest.
Don’t be discouraged!

And all you people who live in the land,
don’t be discouraged!

Continue this work,
because I am with you.”

This is what the Lord All-Powerful said.
“‘I made an agreement with you when you left Egypt,
and I have kept my promise.
My Spirit is with you,

so don’t be afraid!

Jesus said:

Luke 12:29 (NCV)
Don’t always think about
what you will eat or what you will drink,
and
don’t keep worrying.

Matthew 6:25-28, 31-34 (ERV)
25 “So I tell you,

don’t worry

about the things you need to live—what you will eat, drink, or wear.
Life is more important than food,
and the body is more important than what you put on it.

26 Look at the birds.
They don’t plant, harvest, or save food in barns, but your heavenly Father feeds them. Don’t you know you are worth much more than they are?

27 You cannot add any time to your life
by worrying about it.

28 “And why do you worry
about clothes?

Look at the wildflowers in the field.
See how they grow.
They don’t work or make clothes for themselves.

31 “Don’t worry

and say, ‘What will we eat?’
or ‘What will we drink?’
or ‘What will we wear?’

32 That’s what those people who don’t know God are always thinking about.

Don’t worry,

because your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things.

33 What you should want most is God’s kingdom
and doing what he wants you to do.
Then he will give you all these other things you need.

34 So don’t worry

about tomorrow.

Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Tomorrow will have its own worries.

Matthew 10:19, 20, 30, 31 (ERV), 31 (NASB)
19 Even when you are arrested and put on trial,
don’t worry about what you will say.

20 Say
whatever God tells you at the time.
It will not really be you speaking.
It will be the Holy Spirit.

30 God even knows how many hairs are on your head.
31 So don’t be afraid.
You are worth more than a whole flock of birds.

31 So do not fear;
you are more valuable than many sparrows. (NASB)

Jeremiah 17:7, 8 (ERV)
“But those who trust in the Lord will be blessed.
They know that the Lord will do what he says.

They will be strong like trees planted near a stream
that send out roots to the water.
They have nothing to fear when the days get hot.
    Their leaves are always green.

They never worry,
even in a year that has no rain.

    They always produce fruit.

Philippians 4:6, 7 (ERV)
Don’t worry about anything,
but
pray and ask God

for everything you need,
always giving thanks for what you have.

And because you belong to Christ Jesus,

God’s peace
will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings.

His peace
can do this far better than our human minds.

Amen!
